Values: Your Core Foundation and Truths
September 26, 2020
-At the Geomic Code Research Institute, we study choice, especially the unconscious choices humans make in relationship to 6 areas of decision-making influence: Intent, Situation, Values, Destiny, Purpose, and Motivation. In the article we posted on the Geomic Code website in May 2020, I discussed “purpose“. In July, my focus was “intention”, and in August, it was situation.
In this article, we will look at how “values” influence our choices at the unconscious level.
In case you haven’t been following this article series, let me explain how I use the digital remembering tool to study a new topic: 1) Thumb: What is this thing I want to know more about? 2) Index Finger: What does this thing do? 3) Middle Finger: How can I use this thing? 4) Commitment Finger: When can I use this thing? 5) Pinkie Finger: What results can I expect from using this thing?
Do you ever look inside you to see what your core values are? Do you wear your values on your sleeve or around your neck? Do you keep them hidden (from others and maybe even yourself)?
The Geomic Code Research Institute uses a unique combination of shapes and colors to study the human values we refer to as our Dynamic Natural Abilities (Geomic D-N-A). All of us have them, and all of us operate from them as we encounter developmental opportunities. Exactly what are values, anyway? Let’s take a look.
1) What are values?
When you take a Geomic Code Assessment, you find your essential values unveiling themselves in your individual results. The Assessment results first come to you in the form of a complimentary Geomic Code Word Cloud and short descriptive paragraph.
You’ve probably encountered word clouds before. Ah, but the Geomic Word Cloud is different! All those words, in differing font sizes and taken together, are a picture of your Dynamic Natural Abilities, your unique strengths.
And, yes, the words in your Geomic Word Cloud are all strengths. Some of them, like old friends, have been honed to a fine point. Other words in the cloud (in smaller font sizes) represent developmental opportunities. Think of these smaller-font words as new friends who are willing, when you let them, to take you to novel and exciting places you may not have thought to go to up to this point in your life.
What do Dynamic Natural Abilities have to do with values? The dictionary tells us that values are “a person's principles or standards of behavior; one's judgment of what is important in life”. My values are reflected in my Geomic D-N-A, and they manifest themselves in my actions, which are directed by my natural abilities (the “dynamic” part of “Dynamic Natural Abilities”). You can see what I value in my actions.
2) What do values do?
According to Steven Mintz of ethicssage.com, “Values describe the personal qualities we choose to embody to guide our actions; the sort of person we want to be; the manner in which we treat ourselves and others, and our interaction with the world around us.” Values help you recognize what Paul Tillich, a German-American existentialist philosopher and theologian, called the “Ground of Being”. Religious texts describe it this way: “I am who am.” The question of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet aside, it makes no sense to ask, “To be or not to be?” in a world where I exist.
Whether we describe it as a voice in our head, divine direction, or simply reading our moral compass, we are often unconsciously driven to act from our own ground of being, as it were. Once we decide to act, we no more question our right to do what we are doing than we question our very existence. We do what we do because we value who we are.
3) How do you use values?
In a few words, “from your core”. You know how, when you are coring an apple, you can tell exactly where to position the knife to excise its center? Look at what I discovered when I consulted a dictionary for the definition of “core”: “a central and often foundational part usually distinct from the enveloping part by a difference in nature”.
The bolding of that middle phrase is mine. We know our center by seeing how its essential nature compares to our outer self, the one we present to the world around us. At the Geomic Code Research Institute, we study this stuff. Really hard. Because we understand that the core of a human being has a distinct look and feel that is often buried under layers of acquired demands and expectations coming from that person’s outside world.
Those who have taken a Geomic Code Assessment and are eager to dig more deeply into their own core, their operating system for interacting with the world around them, can purchase the Institute’s package known as “The WAY”.
Each shape, color and design on the Assessment has its own meaning. For this reason, the results of your Assessment as provided in your version of “The WAY” have been separated out so that you can see in more detail the one Geomic shape that most closely defines how you relate to the world around you.
Irrespective of how you discover what your core values are, become familiar with them, make friends with them, all of them, and use them to help you look behind the veil of life’s mystery. You will find that, to the degree your “insides match your outsides”, you will attract compatriots on your adventures. Treasure your values; they make you “you”.
4) When do you use values?
Values come into play when life poses questions, when negativity presents itself in the form of naysayers…even when we are bored. When you reconnect with your core values, you find your way back to your path; you are lifted up from what may be bringing you down. In this time of pandemic, do your “self” a huge favor and re-discover what your core values are. You won’t be sorry.
5) What results can you expect when you use values?
At the end of the discovery process that is finding what we value is a life infused with power. In fact, the end of that process is actually a beginning – to a life lived with self-confidence and compassion for others and grounded in the solid belief that we and they can find the core values that define our uniqueness.
What do “values” have to do with the Geomic Code?
At the Geomic Code Research Institute, we have been discussing our 6 areas of decision-making influence (Intent, Situation, Values, Destiny, Purpose, and Motivation) with a view to the kinds of workshops and other tools we can offer in the future. I invite you to join the conversation by providing your comments and / or questions in the box at the end of this article.
The Geomic Code Word Cloud is a first step in this journey of self-discovery that is the Geomic Code Assessment. The next step is to invest in The WAY, a more in-depth look into the specifics of what your Assessment reveals as the fulcrum upon which your life balances and from which you make unconscious and conscious choices.
Stay tuned and, in the meantime, please take a Geomic Code Assessment and let us know how we can help you take your Assessment results to the next level.
